We are looking for a nurse to join our team at Madinat Zayed. The position is temporary (one year, subject to renewal). The candidate should have Diploma Degree in Nursing, recognized by Abu Dhabi Health Authorities and at least 3 years’ experience in nursing in large power generation or continuous process plants.
The essential goal of the nurse is to provide a sustainable service in the work place of Shams employees at the Shams 1 Plant by protecting life and health of the personnel and subcontractors, by providing preventive and corrective actions regarding education and emergency response with well-maintained equipment and highly trained, dedicated personnel.
The nurse shall hold the designation of Registered nurse and maintain a valid license issued by DOH.
Reporting to the HSSE Manager, the job holder will be part of Loss Prevention Function team
Support Plant operational goals and objectives per Shams Power Company policies, procedures and HSSE Managers instructions, including the ongoing onsite work for project closure and warranty items.
Key Responsibilities:
The job holder core function covers some parts of Health, Safety and Environment Management System
Risk Management
The daily work tasks performed represent risks that could lead to serious accidents which are controlled by means of procedures, supervision, safety devices, HSSEQ Team and PPE (personal Protective Equipment).
Traffic/vehicles accidents.
Risks inherent to the job of the nurse while performing site inspections.
Exposure to Hazardous process chemicals on site during emergency response
Injuries and property damage during emergency response
Ensure in routing and monitoring the closure of anomalies onsite and updating to MAXIMO
Maintain knowledge of the risks associated to the activity of the plant and the products used on site, keeping MSDS and giving his advice regarding the handling and storing of those.
Safety
Enforce SHAMS POWER COMPANY HSSE policies and procedures, and ensure that all Health measures and precautions are strictly considered and taken care of during the execution of activities (operational and maintenance / development works, to avoid any activity which might lead to Health incidents / non conformities
Involved in Permit to work process.
Responsible for providing induction to visitors / contractors / staff.
Maintain/verify accurate records, preparing reports and composing correspondence related to the work
Ensure that tools and equipment assigned are adequate to the given tasks and used in accordance to manufacturer's recommendations and the Company procedures / guidelines.
Development and implementation of Health initiatives and procedures and update the procedures as per authorities requirement such as DOH , OSHAD and DOE.
Keep record of incident and accident; keep documentation of case treated according to Shams procedures and DOH requirements
Inspect HSE Activities including subcontractors and report to concerned department for corrective action.
Involved in Permit to work process.
Assist in conducting investigation regarding accidents.
Assist Site management for the preparation of Hazardous Identification plan..
Emergency Response and rescue
Performs inspections and maintenance of Medical equipment.
Assist in drills related to medical support.
Responds immediately to an emergency by proceeding at once to the area with the emergency kit.
Prepare and support the Health aspects of emergency response procedures and safety plans.
Ensure timely intervention by specialists services in case of emergency.
Ensure adequate number of First Aiders to response during his absence
Environment
Responsible for medical waste management and coordination with waste disposal contractor.
Training and development
Participate in UAE Nationals development programme.
Develop self and others.
Act as a Safety, Health and Environmental Trainer. Propose and participate to Health awareness programs, such as Working in the Heat program, safety inductions….
Follow the trained personnel and propose additional first aid trainings for the Shams personnel according to the risks of the activity.
Quality
Inspect other department in Health and hygiene issues.
General HSE requirement
Provide assistance to other departments as may require related to HSE.
Participate in Plant scheduled shutdowns and turnarounds.
Raise service request in Maximo when required.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the HSSE Manager.
Core Nurse Requirement
Maintain the first aid room and first aid equipment on site in good state, with regular inspections and replenishment as needed.
Ensure the equipment and material of First aid room is complete and reasonable with the foreseeable accidents that can occur, and specifically burn injuries (by hot HTF, steam or chemicals).
Provide Health check to personnel (e.g. dehydration, or control of alcohol).
Emergency personal care: Resuscitating during cardiac and respiratory arrest. Assisting and performing CPR Assisting in endo- tracheal intubations.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
Diploma Degree in Nursing, recognized by Abu Dhabi Health Authorities
Candidate must have and maintain the designation of Registered Nurse license issued by Abu Dhabi HAAD
A light vehicle (manual) driving license is required for the emergency vehicle.
Experience
At least 3 years’ experience in nursing in large power generation or continuous process plants.
Skills
Highly proactive and self-motivated.
Team player, good interpersonal skills.
Good command of oral and written English (General IELTS Level 4), Arabic is an advantage.
